We think The Movement Guild is pretty awesome, but don’t just take our word for it…
Reason for Treatment: Knee Pain
“I started working with Adam to address some knee issues I was having. I am prepping for a big backpacking trip and started having a lot of pain and swelling in my left knee to the point where I couldn’t walk on it properly. I started working with Adam and saw immediate results. I work with him in the office and continue my exercises at home. I can tell that each exercise is specifically targeting my problem area and making me stronger. This therapy is not only helping me recover from my injury, but is also great training for my future hike. I’m learning how to train properly and I know this will help me complete this hike stronger and pain free! I would recommend The Movement Guild to anyone wanting to improve an injury or train better. The staff is super supportive and knowledgable!”
“Great space with such a variety of equipment to accommodate all kinds of exercises and treatment modalities for people with all kinds of needs and fitness levels.
Working with Jessica in the past 5 months has literally changed my life. I’ve had a lot of issues (pain, movement limitations) from injuries over the years and since seeing her I’ve gotten back to regular exercise. She is careful, thoughtful, and creative in her approach to rehabilitation, body work, and yoga. She systematically tries to broaden what’s possible in terms of getting your body to move and strengthen, while never pushing you to do exercises that are too far outside what your body can handle safely/comfortably.
I’ve been to several physical therapists and personal trainers over the years and have never encountered someone who pays as close attention to how you’re doing exercises/movements and makes sure they’re functional for you and not just textbook what ‘you’re supposed to look like.’
If you want to get back to healthy and have some pain or chronic injuries/problems and haven’t found someone who can help: see Jessica at The Movement Guild.”
Reason for Treatment: Foot Pain
“I see Adam as my Physical Therapist and I have to say the guy is amazing. Just for context, I’ve seen a PT after I had ankle surgery a couple years back as part of my rehabilitation. Quite frankly, Adam put them to shame. Not only did he go through the exercises, which is basically all the previous one did, he educated me on the why and really helped me understand how the the movement of my body l, or lack thereof, impacted the other areas that were also presenting issues. The dude even makes getting fitted for an orthotic fun and educational. I only had one session and have been consistently doing the exercises and I’ve seen a vast improvement in the mobility and decrease in pain on my right side. Well worth the time and money spent.”
“Worked with Jessica Carlin in a fabulous kinstretch class. Joint mobility training is hard work but she made it fun an accessible. Highly recommend!”
“I have worked with Jessica for years. Her inter-discipline approach is innovative and effective for short and long term well being.”
Reason for treatment: Lower Back Pain, TMJ Pain
“I began seeking treatment at REAL pt due to lower back and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain, I am 30 years old and these ailments were significantly impacting my quality of life. I choose to work with Bill not only because of his extensive knowledge of my conditions, but because he was warm, welcoming, approachable, has convenient locations, and he truly cares about you not only as a patient but as a person.
Bill was wonderful to work with and always makes time for you in his busy schedule (even if he has to shift things around). Bill truly impacted my life for the better as I started to see improvements after seeing him. I will say that it takes time to see improvements, getting better does not happen overnight. He taught me exercises that slowly got me back into working out (as I was scared to after my injury) and now I’m back in the gym full force! I am grateful for Bill, he is a wonderful therapist and person. I don’t have enough positive things to say about Bill.”
Reason for treatment: Hip and Shoulder Pain, Dislocated Ribs
“Before I began seeing Adam I tried all kinds of stretches, activities and other physical therapists for help with a variety of issues. I’ve been a runner, yogi, skier, free-diver and practiced karate. Each activity led to its own unique set of issues to contend with. After more than 6 years cobbling together things on my own I was introduced to Adam and almost immediately felt a difference. Adam started tracing some hip issues I was dealing with at the time to other parts of my body, eventually leading up to my neck and jaw. That was just one of the many instances he’s traced something well outside of the area I was looking for treatment on and it’s definitely not information you can Google!
He’s helped me sort through issues with my hips, shoulders, ribs and even gotten me to learn better breathing techniques. From impingements, isolated weakness and dislocated ribs, I count on Adam to help return me to normal so I can keep doing what I want to do and making a difference in my own clients’ lives.
I look forward to my sessions not just because I always leave feeling better, but also as a place to relax, talk movies and learn more about his extensive knowledge of music. Anytime I’m there he shares what’s happening in a way I can understand, and also clearly demonstrates a passion for what he does. I can’t recommend him more highly, especially to those who were like me and believe they can’t be helped. There’s a huge difference you can feel, and I can’t thank him enough for the difference he has made in my life!.”
Reason for treatment: Muscle Injury from Marathon Training
“I went to visit Adam at REAL pt after suffering a muscle injury during marathon training. I was about a month out from the race and felt like my participation was in jeopardy. Adam was able to pinpoint the problem area immediately. He understood what was wrong and what it was going to take to get me to the race. And he had the knowledge and tools to put me in the best position to run. Obviously there was in-person work on the muscles that helped tremendously. The stretching and maintenance work he suggested were big time as well. But Adam also really knows how to utilize Kinesiology tape to your advantage, allowing your body to move and heal at the same time I’d highly recommend visiting Real PT if you’re having any kinda of issues, marathon-related or not.”
Side Note: The Normatec Pulse Leg Recovery System is a really interesting and cool apparatus that Adam had me use (that’s them in the picture). I run the marathon in 2 days and the work that Adam has done played a major roll in allowing me to participate at all.
Reason for treatment: Back Spasms, Division 1 Baseball
“My experience at Real PT has been nothing short of outstanding. Adam Wolf does a great job of working with his athletes on a micro scale. He stays away from a “one size fits all” program and every athlete is treated to their specific needs and goals. Real PT has a great atmosphere of trainers and athletes who love to work hard and have a good time doing it.
Before working with Adam, I had reoccurring back spasms that never seemed to fully heal. Adam helped isolate the issue and we worked on mobility and strengthening in my hips, hamstrings, and lower back. Once I was healthy, I continued to work with Adam on strengthening these issues as well as targeting sport specific exercises to increase my ability to rotate more efficiently. I have never felt better in my athletic career than I do now, and I believe it has come from working at Real PT.”
Reason for treatment: Back Spasms from Running
“Adam and REAL PT were great. My back was in agony when I saw him for an initial consultation. I couldn’t walk 3 blocks without extreme discomfort. I considered physical therapy a last resort because of some bad experiences in the past. I wished I had known REAL PT sooner. Adam quickly got me back to running in a week. I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again.“
Reason for treatment: Low Back Disc Herniation
“I sought out Real PT after a low back disc herniation and within 3 visits I had a handle on my back pain. The therapists at Real PT are extremely knowledgeable and immediately put me at ease that surgery is not the only option. They are unique as they evaluate you as an individual and don’t try to place you into a diagnostic category. They gave me the tools to manage my pain and I am back to normal activity.”
Reason for treatment: Hip Pain, Shoulder Surgery Post Care
“I’ve been a patient of Bill and Adam’s for over five years. I originally started seeing Bill after a nagging injury that 4+ doctors couldn’t diagnose. After 1 hour with Bill, he knew exactly what was wrong with my hip and had a plan to get me back to full activity. Bill was able to get me back to being the athlete I identify as.
Adam and Bill also treated me through a shoulder injury and surgery. Their technique of evaluating the whole patient rather than just the pain got me back to 100% mobility and has kept me from a hip surgery. At this point, I consider Bill an extended member of my family because he has taken the time to get to know me and understand that doing nothing is not an option for me.”
Reason for treatment: Chronic Sport and Age-related Issues
“Bill at REAL pt is an important component of my overall effort to maintain good health. I chose to work with Bill at REAL pt because a coworker strongly recommended him.
Whenever I have any kind of nagging or chronic issue, either sports – or age-related, he has everytime been able to quickly diagnose and remedy it. His understanding of how the body works is not only encyclopedic but highly intuitive, developed over years of dedication to his profession. I trust his opinion over that of the orthopedic doctors I have consulted over the years, and he has treated me more successfully.”
Reason for treatment: Nerve and Muscle Pain in Leg
“I started with Bill Hitchcock at Real PT because I had a severe allergic reaction to a drug, which attacked the nerves and muscles of my leg. I was unable to bend my leg, had various pains through the length of it, and couldn’t walk up and down stairs or get into and out of the car without great difficulty. I could not walk for more than a block, and my exercise workouts were completely diminished. My doctor recommended physical therapy, and I began working with Bill, who had a physical therapy room in my trainer’s facility.
Almost immediately, Bill started making a difference. Each session with him made me believe that I would get through this, as my leg continued – and continues – to heal. He has gotten me back to the point where I can walk miles again.
I love working with Bill. He is so skilled and knowledgeable. This has been a very long haul for me, and Bill has been with me throughout this process. He is responsible for its success, for which I am completely grateful.”
Reason for treatment: Neck Pain
“Adam possesses an extraordinary level of knowledge, and knows how to apply it to get results. I love how he said that “if I wasn’t feeling better by the fourth session, we wouldn’t continue”. Thankfully I started feeling better after my first session with him. He’s the best PT I’ve seen over the years.”
Reason for treatment: ACL Injury and shoulder, neck, upper back pain
“Bill is wonderful and his experience in PT is so valuable. Service is great! He provides a thorough review and consultation of your injury. I’ve seen him for my knee (ACL) and shoulder/neck/upper back due to issues from working at a desk for so many years! Highly recommend.”
Reason for treatment: Back Pain
“Bill Hitchcock of REAL pt thoroughly understands biomechanics as well as the muscle imbalances that people suffer, especially as they age. As a middle-aged hockey player with a chronically sore lower back, Bill helped me understand the cause of my pain and taught me easy stretches to help ameliorate my condition. His in-person treatments are fantastic too! Bill is the first person I consult when my body feels out of whack.”
Reason for treatment: ACL & Meniscus Reconstructive Surgery
“I was recovering from my 2nd reconstructive surgery for my ACL & meniscus and I was looking for an elevated level of care. My doctors at Midwest Ortho highly recommended working with Bill/REAL pt but what really made my decision easy was his/their decades of experience, commitment to intimate 1 on 1 care, and his/their value of educating while training. When I work with Bill/Real PT, he/they take time to explain to me why we are doing the exercises that we are doing, and how it benefits me. This really helps me utilize & maximize the benefits of my training when I’m at home or on the job.”
