We think The Movement Guild is pretty awesome, but don’t just take our word for it…
“I took a private lesson with Jessica and it was incredible. In our short hour together, she helped me hone in on the correct engagement of my body during my yoga practice and beyond. Jessica is kind and a doer. Her knowledge and awareness helped me alleviate the discomfort of a wrist injury as well as elevate my yoga practice for my body structure.”
“Adam Wolf is the man! I was introduced to him by chance, when he came to UIC to give a lecture on human movement. I followed up with him about some chronic knee issues that I needed help with while training for my second ironman triathlon. Not only is he great with movement assessments and getting to the root cause of the issue, his skills with manual therapy and therapeutic taping are on point as well. He also helped me manage and resolve my pain by teaching me practical at-home exercises I could do on my own. Finally, he takes the time to explain what he’s doing in a way you can understand. My knowledge of the body and its movement has greatly improved after asking him many questions. Thanks Adam!”
“I took a Movement Education weekend training for yoga teachers with Jessica Carlin, and the information presented was thorough and in clear language. Along with self and partner practice, visual slides, textbook references, and group discussions, Jessica’s demonstration of expert knowledge in the matter of how we move, why movement differs in different bodies, joints, spine, etc, was practical, realistic, and forward-thinking. I learn a lot from her instruction and am looking forward to bringing this knowledge into my own practice as well as instruction. Many thanks to The Movement Guild!!”
“Great space with such a variety of equipment to accommodate all kinds of exercises and treatment modalities for people with all kinds of needs and fitness levels.
Working with Jessica in the past 5 months has literally changed my life. I’ve had a lot of issues (pain, movement limitations) from injuries over the years and since seeing her I’ve gotten back to regular exercise. She is careful, thoughtful, and creative in her approach to rehabilitation, body work, and yoga. She systematically tries to broaden what’s possible in terms of getting your body to move and strengthen, while never pushing you to do exercises that are too far outside what your body can handle safely/comfortably.
I’ve been to several physical therapists and personal trainers over the years and have never encountered someone who pays as close attention to how you’re doing exercises/movements and makes sure they’re functional for you and not just textbook what ‘you’re supposed to look like.’
If you want to get back to healthy and have some pain or chronic injuries/problems and haven’t found someone who can help: see Jessica at The Movement Guild.”
“Great interpretation of yoga. Loved this class as it opened up some awareness through movement.”
“I attended a course over the weekend. Jessica and Adam are smart and communicative. I was able to absorb and apply what I learned in my classes the following day. And they do it all without an air of superiority.”
Reason for Treatment: Knee Pain
“I started working with Adam to address some knee issues I was having. I am prepping for a big backpacking trip and started having a lot of pain and swelling in my left knee to the point where I couldn’t walk on it properly. I started working with Adam and saw immediate results. I work with him in the office and continue my exercises at home. I can tell that each exercise is specifically targeting my problem area and making me stronger. This therapy is not only helping me recover from my injury, but is also great training for my future hike. I’m learning how to train properly and I know this will help me complete this hike stronger and pain free! I would recommend The Movement Guild to anyone wanting to improve an injury or train better. The staff is super supportive and knowledgable!”
Reason for Treatment: Foot Pain
“I see Adam as my Physical Therapist and I have to say the guy is amazing. Just for context, I’ve seen a PT after I had ankle surgery a couple years back as part of my rehabilitation. Quite frankly, Adam put them to shame. Not only did he go through the exercises, which is basically all the previous one did, he educated me on the why and really helped me understand how the the movement of my body l, or lack thereof, impacted the other areas that were also presenting issues. The dude even makes getting fitted for an orthotic fun and educational. I only had one session and have been consistently doing the exercises and I’ve seen a vast improvement in the mobility and decrease in pain on my right side. Well worth the time and money spent.”
“Worked with Jessica Carlin in a fabulous kinstretch class. Joint mobility training is hard work but she made it fun an accessible. Highly recommend!”
“I have worked with Jessica for years. Her inter-discipline approach is innovative and effective for short and long term well being.”
Reason for treatment: Back Spasms, Division 1 Baseball
“My experience at Real PT has been nothing short of outstanding. Adam Wolf does a great job of working with his athletes on a micro scale. He stays away from a “one size fits all” program and every athlete is treated to their specific needs and goals. Real PT has a great atmosphere of trainers and athletes who love to work hard and have a good time doing it.
Before working with Adam, I had reoccurring back spasms that never seemed to fully heal. Adam helped isolate the issue and we worked on mobility and strengthening in my hips, hamstrings, and lower back. Once I was healthy, I continued to work with Adam on strengthening these issues as well as targeting sport specific exercises to increase my ability to rotate more efficiently. I have never felt better in my athletic career than I do now, and I believe it has come from working at Real PT.”
Reason for treatment: Back Spasms from Running
“Adam and REAL PT were great. My back was in agony when I saw him for an initial consultation. I couldn’t walk 3 blocks without extreme discomfort. I considered physical therapy a last resort because of some bad experiences in the past. I wished I had known REAL PT sooner. Adam quickly got me back to running in a week. I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again.”
Reason for treatment: Muscle Injury from Marathon Training
“I went to visit Adam at REAL pt after suffering a muscle injury during marathon training. I was about a month out from the race and felt like my participation was in jeopardy. Adam was able to pinpoint the problem area immediately. He understood what was wrong and what it was going to take to get me to the race. And he had the knowledge and tools to put me in the best position to run. Obviously there was in-person work on the muscles that helped tremendously. The stretching and maintenance work he suggested were big time as well. But Adam also really knows how to utilize Kinesiology tape to your advantage, allowing your body to move and heal at the same time I’d highly recommend visiting Real PT if you’re having any kinda of issues, marathon-related or not.”
Side Note: The Normatec Pulse Leg Recovery System is a really interesting and cool apparatus that Adam had me use (that’s them in the picture). I run the marathon in 2 days and the work that Adam has done played a major roll in allowing me to participate at all.
Reason for treatment: Hip and Shoulder Pain, Dislocated Ribs
“Before I began seeing Adam I tried all kinds of stretches, activities and other physical therapists for help with a variety of issues. I’ve been a runner, yogi, skier, free-diver and practiced karate. Each activity led to its own unique set of issues to contend with. After more than 6 years cobbling together things on my own I was introduced to Adam and almost immediately felt a difference. Adam started tracing some hip issues I was dealing with at the time to other parts of my body, eventually leading up to my neck and jaw. That was just one of the many instances he’s traced something well outside of the area I was looking for treatment on and it’s definitely not information you can Google!
He’s helped me sort through issues with my hips, shoulders, ribs and even gotten me to learn better breathing techniques. From impingements, isolated weakness and dislocated ribs, I count on Adam to help return me to normal so I can keep doing what I want to do and making a difference in my own clients’ lives.
I look forward to my sessions not just because I always leave feeling better, but also as a place to relax, talk movies and learn more about his extensive knowledge of music. Anytime I’m there he shares what’s happening in a way I can understand, and also clearly demonstrates a passion for what he does. I can’t recommend him more highly, especially to those who were like me and believe they can’t be helped. There’s a huge difference you can feel, and I can’t thank him enough for the difference he has made in my life!.”
Reason for treatment: Low Back Disc Herniation
“I sought out Real PT after a low back disc herniation and within 3 visits I had a handle on my back pain. The therapists at Real PT are extremely knowledgeable and immediately put me at ease that surgery is not the only option. They are unique as they evaluate you as an individual and don’t try to place you into a diagnostic category. They gave me the tools to manage my pain and I am back to normal activity.”
Reason for treatment: Hip Pain, Shoulder Surgery Post Care
“I’ve been a patient of Bill and Adam’s for over five years. I originally started seeing Bill after a nagging injury that 4+ doctors couldn’t diagnose. After 1 hour with Bill, he knew exactly what was wrong with my hip and had a plan to get me back to full activity. Bill was able to get me back to being the athlete I identify as.
Adam and Bill also treated me through a shoulder injury and surgery. Their technique of evaluating the whole patient rather than just the pain got me back to 100% mobility and has kept me from a hip surgery. At this point, I consider Bill an extended member of my family because he has taken the time to get to know me and understand that doing nothing is not an option for me.”
Reason for treatment: Neck Pain
“Adam possesses an extraordinary level of knowledge, and knows how to apply it to get results. I love how he said that “if I wasn’t feeling better by the fourth session, we wouldn’t continue”. Thankfully I started feeling better after my first session with him. He’s the best PT I’ve seen over the years.”
